The U.S. Geological Survey’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory received over 280 felt reports from across Maui and Hawai‘i Island this morning. The earthquake was centered near the coast of Papa‘ioku but there is no tsunami threat.

Firefighters are still working to extinguish a third fire in Kihei that scorched hundreds of acres overnight. The Maui emergency management system has been activated, but the fire is not an immediate threat to homes in the area.
