All five can be seen now, but the best day to see them is March 28, when the planets stretch from the western horizon to about halfway up the sky.

4.1 magnitude earthquake strikes 32 miles southeast of Nāʻālehu on Big Island; no tsunami threat
On March 26, at 6:39 p.m., a 4.1 magnitude earthquake occurred on Kamaʻehuakanaloa (Lō‘ihi) volcano, 32 miles southeast of Nāʻālehu on the Big Island. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no threat of a tsunami.

All five can be seen now, but the best day to see them is March 28, when the planets stretch from the western horizon to about halfway up the sky. Mercury and Jupiter, however, will dip out quickly, falling below the horizon about 30 minutes after the sun sets.

68 whales spotted by volunteers off Hawai‘i Island on last day of Great Whale Count
A total of 1,121 whales were observed across the state by volunteers for the Great Whale Count on March 25.
The statewide count was coordinated between two nonprofit organizations: the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary Ocean Count — where 320 volunteers gathered data from the shores of Kaua‘i, O‘ahu and Hawai‘i islands — and Pacific Whale Foundation with volunteers based in Maui. This is the first year since March 2020 that both programs resumed normal operations.
Big Island police seek 15-year-old runaway Manao-Akamai Kaaihue
Big Island police want to know if you’ve seen a missing 15-year-old boy who was reported as a runaway.
Mana‘o-Akamai Ka‘aihue was last seen at 11 p.m. Friday, March 24, on Mahi Ko Place in Hilo wearing a black shirt, denim pants and white sneakers. He is described as 6 feet tall, weighing 145 pounds, with black curly hair and brown eyes.

Magnitude 4.1 earthquake on Hawaiʻi Island preceded by two 3+ quakes
There is no tsunami expected following a 4.1 magnitude earthquake reported at 6:39 p.m. HST on Sunday, March 26 on Kamaʻehuakanaloa (Lō‘ihi) volcano. The earthquake was preceded by M3.1 and M3.2 earthquakes on Kamaʻehuakanaloa occurring over the past 12 hours.
