Good morning Big Island,
There was good news yesterday with the report that the wreckage and bodies of the three crew members of Hawai’i Life Flight were recovered in deep waters between Maui and the Big Island. It will take months to years to determine exactly what went wrong during the air ambulance flight that crashed on Dec. 15 en route to pick up a patient in Waimea. The body of a badly burned female in a banyan tree in Hilo also was identified.
Today, the high surf advisory was extended for north-facing shores of the Big Island, police need help finding a stolen heirloom and pieces of the uniform worn by members of the Royal Order of Kamehameha I, and firework permits for New Year’s Eve were at their highest levels since at least 2006.
And we have a few other posts about recycling events, new state division to address human trafficking and UH grant from the U.S. Navy to address marine and energy issues.
Have a great day and thank you for reading.
