Paying tribute:

Dozens of colleagues, community members, law enforcement and EMS gathered Thursday at Old Kona Airport Park to pay tribute to the three Hawaii Life Flight crew who perished after their plane went down in the Alenuihaha channel Dec. 15 while on a flight from Maui to Waimea.

Police nab 19 for suspected drunken driving

Hawaii Police Department officers arrested 19 motorists for suspected drunken driving between Dec. 12 and Sunday. Four of the drivers were involved in traffic crashes and one was younger than age 21.

Storm takes a toll

About 800 Big Island residents were estimated to still be without power Tuesday afternoon following the “Kona low” storm that hit Monday.
