Final Thought… Fifteen months ago, I walked into PBS Hawaiʻi with much excitement and even more anxiety. I had big plans… and big shoes to fill. I didn’t know what size slippahs Leslie Wilcox wore, but I knew they must’ve been bumboochas. I dove in. Head first.
After just three days on the job, something magical happened, a revelation that I wasn’t here to fill anyone’s shoes, rather I was here to be a part of an exciting new chapter for PBS Hawaiʻi. Since that day, the pages have been turning faster than I could ever imagine, a whirlwind for sure, but smooth sailing. The reason the seas are calm is because of the amazing team that surrounds me.
When I looked at our lineup of locally produced programs last week, I was speechless. Then, when I saw what we are presenting to the community in the days ahead, I sat in awe and silence. Go ahead, take another look at the lineup. It looks like the New York Yankees on steroids. (Of course no one on our team is on the juice. Oakland A’s fan – don’t judge). I know I’ve asked much from this hard working crew, but thankfully, no one has abandoned ship, there’s been no mutiny and I don’t see any planks in The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation Studio. Not yet at least.
A sincere Mahalo Nui to our team of professionals, and to all of you, the community we serve. You are the source of our action.
Eh, where’s my slippahs!?
