This is a Civil Defense message.

This is a COVID-19 informational update for Monday, January 3rd.

For Hawaii County, the Department of Health reports 359 new cases, 1824 active cases, and 9 persons hospitalized.

Please do your part to protect our Ohana and followed the preventive measures of wearing face coverings, distancing, disinfecting your hands, limiting and avoiding gatherings, and staying home; especially when sick.  If you feel sick or believe you may have been exposed to a positive case, please get tested.

For testing, the following County Community Testing operations are available today.  In Hilo at the Afook Chinen Civic from 12 pm ‘til 7 pm and in North Kohala at the Waimea District Park from 2 ‘till 5 pm.


The Department of Health recommends getting vaccinated and getting a booster shot to protect yourself, your family and friends.  Vaccinations are available daily Monday through Friday at the Hilo Medical Center from 8 am to 4 pm.
