This is a Civil Defense message.

This is a COVID-19 informational update for Tuesday, December 28th.

For Hawaii County, the Department of Health reports 50 new cases, 650 active cases, and 6 persons hospitalized.

Hawaii Island and the entire State of Hawaii continues to experience high rates of Coronavirus transmission and community spread can be found in every community.  Be advised that Hawaii County has reduced the size of indoor gathers to slow the spread of the virus and prohibits social gathers of more than 10 persons indoors.

The preventive measures of wearing face coverings, distancing, disinfecting your hands, limiting and avoiding gatherings, and staying home; especially when sick – are key to limiting the spread of this virus.  If you feel sick or may have been exposed to a positive case, please get tested.

For testing the following County Testing operation is available today, in Hilo at the Afook Chinen Civic from 12 noon ‘till 7 pm for PCR testing.  Expect 48 hours for results.
