Hawaiian Airlines helps in relocation efforts for evacuees from Afghanistan
The Department of Defense activated the Civil Reserve Air Fleet to help with with the evacuation efforts from Afghanistan. The fleet includes 18 aircrafts from American Airlines, Atlas Air, Delta Air Lines, Omni Air, Hawaiian Airlines and United Airlines. Hawaiian Airlines will ferry evacuees from interim destinations on the east coast to new cities and towns on the mainland United States.
Visitor accused of using fake vaccination card released from jail after tearful plea
Despite objections from prosecutors, a judge on Wednesday morning released an Illinois visitor from jail who is accused of presenting a fake vaccine card to fly to Hawai‘i. Chloe Mrozak, 24, will need to appear for a virtual hearing on Sept. 22.

Hawai‘i records 13 new coronavirus-related deaths, 455 additional infections in partial count
Nine of the deceased were on O‘ahu, three were on Maui and one was a Hawai‘i resident outside the state. Today’s case count comprises a partial count due to an interruption in the laboratory reporting system. The new confirmed and probable infection count by island includes 291 new cases on O‘ahu, 51 on Maui, 64 on Hawai‘i island, 37 on Kaua‘i, three on Moloka‘i, one on Lāna‘i, and eight Hawai‘i residents diagnosed outside the state.
