This is a COVID-19 informational update for Friday, April 2nd.
On community testing for today, Friday, there will be testing at the Honokaa Sports Complex from 8 ‘till 11 this morning.
The next community testing will be Saturday when three district tests are scheduled. One in Hilo at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium from 8 to 12 in the morning. One in Kona at the West Hawaii Civic Center from 9 in the morning ‘til 1 in the afternoon and one in Puna at Keaau High School from 1 ‘til 5 in the afternoon.
DoH is monitoring 133 active cases in Hawaii County. Coronavirus continues to be a threat in our community. It remains important that we continue to follow the preventive policies of face coverings, distancing, and limiting gathering sizes to no more than 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors until the threat is reduced. Please accept this kuleana to help reduce the spread of the virus.
Hilo Medical Center has opened registration and scheduling for individuals 16 and older for their vaccination distribution this Saturday April 3 at the Edith Kanakaole Tennis stadium. Individuals 16 and older will also be able to register with other vaccine providers starting Monday April 5. For a complete listing of all vaccine providers on Hawaii Island go to the county of Hawaii Civil Defense webpage.
