Celebrate the 10th annual Wiliwili Festival Feb. 12-13

Our forests and landscapes can change rapidly. A very warm, wet period or dry one can drastically alter the species makeup of a forest. For example, our ohia forests are now suffering from Rapid Ohia Death, and from other diseases as well.

Hilo veterans home fined $510K

The state Department of Health has assessed a federal civil penalty of $510,640 to the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo for numerous deficiencies, including the failure to correct COVID-19 infection control shortcomings.

Committee supports job corps resolution
