More positive COVID tests at HCF

The Department of Public Safety Friday announced The Halawa Correctional Facility (HCF) has received more inmate and staff test results. Of 103 inmate test results, 63 were positive and 40 were negative. The 55 staff test results included 6 additional positive cases and 49 negative cases. That brings the total active positive cases to 68 inmates and 21 staff.

Sea turtle struck by boat, could not be saved

After being struck by a vessel and stranding at Maha‘ulepu, Gillins beach on Kauai, sea turtle stranding responders knew the prognosis was poor for this large 150 pound green sea turtle. The animal was rescued from the beach and transported to Oahu to be examined by a qualified sea turtle veterinarian that works with NOAA. There was hope that there might be a chance the turtle could survive its injuries and receive the necessary treatment and rehabilitation to be returned to the ocean.
