Tour helicopter makes emergency landing in Puna
The pilot and five passengers onboard a tour helicopter that rolled over after making a “precautionary landing” near Leilani Estates are accounted for, and only minor injuries have been reported. The FAA and said the aircraft reportedly had engine problems before the hard landing.
The EPA announced today it is in the final phase of its project to remove lead-contaminated soil from beneath Factory Street in the Kalihi-Palama neighborhood. Crews are now repaving Factory Street; both the lead-contaminated soil and leftover asphalt and concrete will be shipped to the U.S. mainland for disposal.
