Human remains found in Hibiscus Drive fire rubble
Possible human remains were found this morning at the site of 3015 Hibiscus Drive two days after the fatal shooting of two police officers and a massive neighborhood conflagration. At least one set of remains was found, Honolulu Police Chief Susan Ballard told reporters today. The body has yet to be identified.
Gov. Ige: “We have it within our power to change the trajectory of Hawaiʻi’s future”
Governor David Ige delivered his sixth State of the State Address today, highlighting education, housing, agriculture and the economy. The governor also highlighted the impacts of climate change and an urgency to protect areas impacted by global warming. He also reiterated his belief that the conflict surrounding the Thirty Meter Telescope can still be resolved peacefully.

On Tuesday, as the Senate kicked off proceedings in Trump’s trial, Schatz said he was working behind the scenes to convince his Republican colleagues of the values of fairness. Hirono, on the other hand, says she’s given up trying to lobby those who are already in lockstep with the president. She doesn’t believe there is anything she can say or do that will change their minds, especially in such a partisan environment.
