Hawaii Fire Department crews rescued a woman whose bus stalled early Sunday morning after she tried to cross a flooded section of Highway 11 in the Ka’u District. The woman was not injured during the rescue. As of Sunday morning, Highway 11 is closed between mile markers 58 and 62.
Heavy showers and flooding are occurring over East Hawaii, with some roads in the Hilo area closed because of flooding dangers.
