KAILUA-KONA — A standoff between a barricaded man and police ended peacefully this afternoon with the suspect exiting his home and police taking him into custody.

KAILUA-KONA — West Hawaii Today reports the Hawaii Police Department’s Special Response Team — the department’s SWAT unit — has been called in and Ahulani Street is closed this morning as police respond to a barricaded suspect at a home in the area.

Scabies outbreak at veterans home resolved

Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo is back to normal operations without visitor restrictions after addressing an outbreak of scabies reported last month, according to Administrator David Pettijohn.
