Convicted teen waits for minimum term decision

KAILUA-KONA — One of two teens sentenced to up to two decades in prison for raping a woman at Kona park is still waiting to learn how much time he must serve behind bars before becoming eligible for parole.

DLNR seeks input on land withdrawal

The state Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife is inviting community comments on proposed withdrawals of lands in the Mauna Kea Forest Reserve.

Device to trap plastic waste in Pacific Ocean relaunches

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A floating device designed to catch plastic waste has been redeployed in second attempt to clean up a huge island of trash swirling in the Pacific Ocean between California and Hawaii.
