Sirens going up

The construction of an outdoor warning sirens begins Friday at Mohouli Park in Hilo. Hawaii County Civil Defense announced Thursday that outdoor warning sirens are scheduled to be constructed from Friday to June 28 in Malama, Mohouli and Ainako parks. Residents and business owners nearby can expect general construction noise and increased traffic during business hours while the sirens are put up.

Bovine beauty

Owen Flores, 12, of Ka‘u 4-H Livestock Club brushes his market steer, Dezi, on Friday during the Hawaii County 4-H Livestock Show and Sale in Anderson Arena at Rocking Chair Ranch in Honokaa.
