St. Francis School, which closed its doors in May, is auctioning just about everything on its Mānoa campus — from books, desks and computers to the lockers, school bus and koi. Oahu Auctions and Liquidations has listed more than 1,000 items for sale at oahuauctions.com.
Feds dropping drug distribution charges against Hilo doctor with dementia
A Hilo doctor at the center of a federal prosecution accusing his office workers of illegally obtaining and selling powerful prescription painkillers has dementia and had been treating himself for the disease since 2014, according to the report of a court-appointed psychiatrist. The report concludes that Dr. Ernest Bade is not mentally competent to stand trial on federal drug distribution and conspiracy charges.
Firefighters perform high elevation rescue on Mauna Kea
Big Island firefighters rescued a man Monday night near the summit of Mauna Kea amid extremely treacherous conditions. Fire officials said the man in his 60s was in an area about a mile away from the nearest trail near the Keck Observatory — an elevation of approximately 12,500 feet. He was trying take a photograph when the ground gave way, officials said.

Going big on the Big Island
If there’s an island that deserves a bit more love in Hawai‘i, it has to be the Big Island, the local name for the island of Hawaiʻi. The largest island in the chain, at 4,028 square miles, it has 63% of the Hawaiian archipelago’s combined landmass but only 13% of Hawai‘i’s people. It’s the third largest island in Polynesia, just behind the two main islands of New Zealand.
Kimi Werner film premiere at Ward Village Courtyard Cinema
