KOHANAIKI — Standing on the beach at Saturday’s Keiki Surf for the Earth and Beach Clean Up, 14-year-old CJ Bruno felt pretty good about his first heat of the day.

Yamadas plead not guilty to hindering, tampering

HILO — Brothers charged with criminal conspiracy to hinder prosecution and two counts of second-degree tampering with physical evidence in connection with a police raid on their downtown Hilo arcade entered not guilty pleas Friday to all charges.

Fallen officer honored nationally

In 2018, 106 American law enforcement officers gave their lives in the line of duty. Of those, 55 died as a result of felonious assault. One such officer was Hawaii Police Department’s Bronson Kaimana Kaliloa.
