HILO — Trespassers squatting in vacant homes has long been an issue in Puna, and residents of one subdivision have decided they won’t take it anymore.

Suspicious package report at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam

PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM – There has been a suspicious package reported on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH). The package was discovered in the vicinity of the Navy Mail Center, near building 479. All personnel not involved in the ongoing investigation have been ordered to stand clear, and motorists should avoid the area.

Tourism still lagging

Tourism to the Big Island was down from last year for the sixth month in a row, according to preliminary data from the Hawaii Tourism Authority.
