Proposed changes to immunization rules draw opposition

KAILUA-KONA — A public hearing Thursday on proposed changes to the state’s immunization requirements for school attendance attracted a crowd of dozens at the West Hawaii Civic Center. The handful who testified all did so staunchly opposing the proposed rules.

DLNR cancels game bird hunting this weekend

After announcing earlier this week the Kahua/Ponoholo Ranch cooperative would be open this weekend for game bird hunting, the Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry on Thursday said there would be no hunting this weekend because poor road conditions due to recent heavy rains.

Kapaau man dies in 2-car crash

KAILUA-KONA — Authorities identified a man killed Thursday morning in a two-car crash on Kohala Mountain Road in Waimea as 27-year-old Anson Guitang of Kapaau.
