The Big Island Auto Club closed out the 2018 drag racing season with a Friday evening through Saturday evening (07-08 December 2018) program at the Hilo Drag Strip.
Here are the final results of the competition:
Import Bracket. Winner: Alika Kamanu (Kurtistown) in a Honda (11.86 sec/127 mph). Runner up: David Lucas (Hilo) in a Datsun Pickup (13.26 sec/100 mph).
“The Other Guys Bracket”. Winner: Ron Dugon (Pahoa) in a Mazda Pickup (18.02 sec/76 mph). Runner up: Mark Murphy (Captain Cook, Hawaii) in a Mustang (11.14 sec/134 mph). Dugon won because of a better reaction time and finished closest to his dial in time.
Motorcycle Bracket. Winner: Jay Camero (Pepeekeo) on a Suzuki motorcycle (9.41 sec/147 mph). Runner up: Rylan Grillot (Hilo) on a Suzuki motorcycle (9.67 sec/141 mph).
