Assault charges dismissed

KAILUA-KONA — Charges against a 34-year-old Kailua-Kona man in connection with a stabbing last month at a Kaiminani Drive home were dismissed Wednesday.

Still no sign of missing freediver

KAILUA-KONA — A second day of searching for missing freediver Guy Hermogila in waters off the North Kohala coast failed to turn up any sign of the 44-year-old man.

Inmate’s lawsuit alleges beating by HCCC guards

A 33-year-old inmate serving a 15-year prison sentence on two drug convictions is suing the state and its Department of Public Safety, claiming he was beaten by guards while in his cell at Hawaii Community Correctional Center.

Documents detail alleged violent carjacking

A 36-year-old man told police he was violently beaten Nov. 2 at King’s Landing in Keaukaha by a friend who stole the man’s pickup truck and cellphone, according to court documents.
