5 more alala release into wild

It’s been a year since the successful reintroduction of critically endangered Hawaiian crows into the forests of Hawaii. Tuesday researchers with The Alala Project released five more alala into the Puu Makaaala Natural Area Reserve. These birds will join eleven aala already thriving in native forests on the windward slopes of Mauna Loa.

Missing teen located in Waimea

Update: Sept. 26, 2018: Hawaii Island police have located 17-year-old Jacob Mead of Kailua-Kona, who was reported missing. He was found unharmed and in good health Tuesday in Waimea.

KAILUA-KONA — A juvenile and two adults were arrested were arrested this week after detectives with the Hawaii Police Department’s Juvenile Aid and VICE sections executed a search warrant in Waimea.
