Lava recovery wish list scaled down by county

A decision on a whether there will be a special session of the state Legislature to consider disaster relief funding appropriation, especially for Puna communities impacted by lava from Kilauea volcano’s lower East Rift Zone eruption, needs to be made soon.

28 motorists arrested for suspected DUI

During the week of Sept. 10-16, 2018, Hawaii Island police arrested 28 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Three of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. One of the drivers was under the age of 21.

Old A rapist gets up to 20 years

KEALAKEKUA — A 17-year-old boy was sentenced up to 20 years in prison for the September 2016 rape of a woman at Old Kona Airport Park.
