According to the National Weather Service and the Central Pacific Hurricane Center, Hurricane Norman is losing some of its punch, as it falls into a category 2 storm.  Forecasters expect Hurricane Norman to weaken further as it shifts to the west-northwest on Thursday.

While state officials consider the future course of Hurricane Norman, meteorologists are keeping a close watch on Tropical Storm Olivia as it churns southwest of Baja, California:

“Tropical Storm Olivia continues to develop in the Eastern Pacific, where it was approximately 2,276 miles from Hilo at 11 a.m. and moving west at 8 mph with sustained winds near 70 mph.

Forecasters expect Olivia to become a hurricane later today or early tomorrow, then pick up speed as it heads west before making a west-northwest turn by Thursday.”
