The brush fire along the Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Saddle Road) has been extinguished, with both lanes of the highway now open to traffic.  Here’s the update from the Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency:

“A message from COUNTY OF HAWAII

This is a Civil Defense Message for Friday August 31 at 6:30 PM.

Hawaii Police Department reports that all lanes of Daniel K. Inouye highway are open in both directions.  The brushfire has been extinguished.
