Forecasters keep an eye on Tropical Storm “Miriam”, 26 August 2018

Now that Tropical Storm Lane is moving west away from Hawaii, forecasters are turning their attention to Tropical Storm “Miriam”, located about 1,920 miles southeast of Hilo.  The developing storm has maximum sustained winds of 45 mph and is moving west at 14 mph.  Meteorologists believe Miriam will enter the Central Pacific as a hurricane sometime on Monday.  The storm should turn northwest once it enters the Central Pacific.

This report also contains updated Hawaii Island road and highway conditions.  More rain and flooding are expected over the next two days.
