Here’s the latest weather and road situation from the Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency:
This is a Civil Defense update for Saturday, August 25 at 6:00 in the morning.
The National Weather Service has discontinued the Tropical Storm Warning for Hawaii Island. A High Surf Advisory is still in effect for east facing shores, and a Flash Flood Warning is still in effect for Hawaii Island.
The Hawaii Police Department reports that due to the heavy rainfall and flash flooding, many roads have sustained damage. Be alert for flowing water on and across the road, debris, water ponding, potholes, and shoulder erosion. Many hazards still exist so please drive carefully. Road closures may still happen without notice.
All major highway are open except portions of Highway 11.
The latest map of road closures can be found here: http://www.hawaiicounty.gov/2018-hurricane-map
