HILO — Hurricane Lane’s rain kept emergency workers busy Thursday, as five people were rescued from a flooded Hilo home after a nearby gulch overflowed.
KAILUA-KONA — Tropical storm conditions and hurricane conditions continue to be a possibility today and tonight as Hurricane Lane churns its way toward the islands. The category 3 storm is expected to pass close to the main islands today, still as a hurricane, bringing damaging winds, according to the National Weather Service.
KAILUA-KONA — As Hurricane Lane wreaked havoc in East Hawaii throughout the day Thursday, West Hawaii residents enjoyed light rain, overcast skies, with no major winds.

The public is advised to stay out of flood waters and storm water runoff due to possible overflowing cesspools, sewer, manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals and associated flood debris.
