Here’s the latest Hurricane Lane update from the Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency.  These reports are updated by the Central Pacific Hurricane Center.  You can find current reports in the right hand sidebar of this blog.

A message from COUNTY OF HAWAII

“This is a Civil Defense hurricane message for Sunday, August 19 at 7:30 in the morning.

The Central Pacific Hurricane Center reports that as of 5:00 AM, Hurricane Lane is a Category 3 hurricane, approximately 890 miles ESE of Hilo with sustained winds of 120 MPH moving west at approximately 15 MPH.

At this point, it is too early to see any impacts to Hawaii Island.  No watches or warnings have been issued by the Central Pacific Hurricane Center.

Civil Defense is monitoring the storm and will keep you informed of any changes that may affect your safety.  Do take this time to assure that family emergency plans are updated.
