The continuing eruption of the Kilauea volcano and the spreading lava flow in lower Puna have claimed Jacks Tours–a major visitor industry business on Hawaii Island.  According to the “Hawaii Tribune-Herald”, the tour company will call it quits at the end of July.

“Hilo tour company Jack’s Tours announced Wednesday that the longtime business will permanently close at the end of the month.

According to a letter sent from Jack’s Tours management, the business can no longer maintain operations because of the decline in island tourism following the Kilauea eruption and closure of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The last day of the company’s operations will be July 31.”
