Some heavy showers, thunderstorms, and flooding may impact Hawaii Island through this afternoon.  Here’s the assessment from the Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency.

“A message from COUNTY OF HAWAII

This is a Civil Defense Message for Saturday, July 7 at 12:00 pm.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood, high surf, and thunderstorm advisory for the island of Hawaii. The advisory remains in effect until1:15PM and may extend beyond if conditions persist.

Due to the potential thunderstorms, the following advisories are issued:
• Be aware of lightning; the best place to be is indoors.
• Expect possible interruptions in your utility services.
• Be on the alert for malfunctioning traffic signals. Please treat flashing traffic lights as a four-way stop.

It is advised to stay away from streams, drainage ditches, and low lying areas prone to flooding.

We are on watch 24-hours a day for your safety.
This is your Hawai‘i County Civil Defense Agency.”
