KEALAKEKUA — A plea agreement has been reached with a man accused of drunken driving twice within 24 hours and striking a pedestrian eight months ago resulting in the dismissal of most charges original brought against him.

UH-Hilo program awarded permanent status

HILO — The University of Hawaii at Hilo School of Nursing’s Doctor of Nursing Practice program has been awarded permanent status by the Board of Regents.

Lava claims more homes in Kapoho

HILO — Lava from Kilauea volcano’s lower East Rift Zone eruption destroyed more homes Monday in Kapoho and additional homes are expected to be lost to the flow today, according to the county.
