On Tuesday morning (03 July 2018), Hawaii County officials will reopen parts of Highway 130 and Highway 137 which were closed temporarily by advancing lava flows.
According to Janet Synder, Mayor Harry Kim’s spokeswoman, Highway 130 will reopen for all traffic at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning. Highway 137 will open from Highway 130 north to Opihikao Road. Kamalili Road and Cinderland Road will be open for local residents only. Synder adds that advancing lava flows may have breached another area of the Puna Geothermal Venture site.
