A strong earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter Scale rumbled through the Kilauea summit early this morning. Here’s the official assessment from the Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency:
This is a Civil Defense Message for Tuesday June 5 at 4:40 AM.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reports a 5.6 magnitude earthquake occurred in the summit region of Kilauea Volcano at approximately 4:30 AM. No tsunami was generated and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii. Repeat, no tsunami threat to Hawaii.
