“Trailblazer Hawaii” is one of those visitor sites that does an excellent job of presenting Hawaii to the world. The articles are fully researched and well-written, and give you the sense of actually being in this beautiful place we call Hawaii.
In this post, reporters investigate the Hamakua Coast of Hawaii Island which they call “a destination not to be found elsewhere in Hawaii.” Since I live along the Hamakua Coast in the small town of Laupahoehoe, I thought it would be interesting to compare my notes with those of the “Trailblazer Hawaii” crew.
The article does an excellent job of capturing the flavor and sense of this underrated gem on Hawaii Island. A series of beautiful photographs highlights some of the attractions of this area north of Hilo, including the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden, Waikaumalo Beach Park, Umauma Falls, and Laupahoehoe Beach Park’s 1946 Tsunami Memorial.
All told, this article is a joy to read. Make the Hamakua Coast one of the stops on your next business or pleasure flight to Hawaii Island. You won’t be disappointed.
