Hawaii Lieutenant Governor Shan Tsutsui will not run for public office in 2018.  According to a spokesman, Tsutsui “wants to spend more time with his family, including his three children…One just left for college last month.”

In 2012, Tsutsui was appointed to fill Brian Schatz’s uncompleted term, when Schatz decided to run for the U.S. Senate seat left by the death of Hawaii Senator Daniel K. Inouye.

Tsutsui won his own election in 2014.
