High Wind And Flash Flood Watch Message For Monday, October 23 At Noon

This is a Civil Defense High Wind and Flash Flood Watch Message for Monday, October 23 at Noon.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Hawaii Island. A flash flood watch means conditions may develop that lead to dangerous flash flooding.

Intermittent heavy showers are expected to develop this afternoon/evening through tomorrow. Police report all roads are open at this time, but advise that driving conditions deteriorate during heavy downpours.

In addition, the National Weather Service issued a High Wind Watch for Hawaii Island summits today through tomorrow. A High Wind Watch means regular winds of 35-45 mph with gusts over 70 mph are expected for summit areas 8,000 ft. and above. Motorists in the area are advised to drive with caution.

This message will be updated and you will be informed of any conditions that may affect your safety.
