Video sent in by Jonathan Blais shows flooding near Kapoho Tide Pools.

Great video from Kapoho resident Jonathan Blais. Notice how some of the homes are built on stilts.  The problem of storm surge has happened in the Kapoho Ponds area before.  The strong storm surge is coming from Hurricane Olaf, which is about 660 miles northeast of Hilo, Hawaii.  Hawaii County Civil Defense reported storm surf reaching up to 25 feet in the Pohoiki area.  Most beaches in that area are closed.  Aloha, Russ.
