A former Hawaii congresswoman who co-author landmark federal legislation known as Title IX will posthumously receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom this month.
President Obama will present the "Presidential Medal of Freedom" to the family of the late Hawaii Congresswoman Patsy T. Mink on 24 November 2014 at the White House. Mink served as representative for Hawaii from 1965-1977 and again from 1990 to 2002, the year she died. Mink was co-author of the landmark Title IX Law, which bans discrimination based on sex in educational programs receiving federal funding. Aloha, Russ.
