The president of Hilo-based ProVision Solar believes solar energy systems on Hawaii Island  have increased by over 33 percent over last year because the island grid is smaller than Oahu’s and that PV installers and Hawaii Electric Light Company personnel have had more experience in managing PV systems.  According to ProVision president Marco Mangelsdorf, there have been 1,852 permits issued for PV systems in the first quarter of 2014, an increase of nearly a third over the installations permitted last year.  On Oahu, the number of permits has declined by more than 40 percent.  Aloha, Russ.
