A futuristic clean energy project has emerged in a small county outside of Reno, Nevada.
This experimental project merges the best of solar panels, mirrors, and hot-rock geothermal to produce electricity at a lower cost and higher efficiency than just geothermal alone. Italy and Iceland are also experimenting with using hot rocks at the site of volcanoes to reduce the footprint of geothermal plants and keep geothermal generation away from population centers. Perhaps a system like this could be used on Hawaii Island. Aloha, Russ.
