Red Cross officials are helping out a Big Island family whose house caught fire Friday morning.

According to the Hawaii County Fire Department, the fire broke out around 11:39 Friday morning in a house on Kualua Street. No one was at home when the fire occurred. Damage was placed at $150,000. Fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze before it spread to nearby structures. The American Red Cross is helping the displaced family to find temporary shelter. Aloha, Russ.
