According to the U.S. Department of the Interior, the purpose of such a relationship would be “to more effectively implement the special political and trust relationship that currently exists between the Federal government and Native Hawaiians.” The statewide public meetings are an attempt “to determine the best path forward for that relationship Congress has created specifically to benefit Native Hawaiians.” The first Hawaii Island meeting on this issue will be held Wednesday, 02 July 2014, at Keaukaha Elementary School, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Aloha, Russ.
