A 24-year-old Waianae man has been convicted of negligent homicide for a traffic accident that killed another driver almost three years ago. Jameson Yong changed his plea to no contest despite having a no plea agreement with prosecutors. According to Honolulu police, on 19 November 2011, Yong drove the wrong way on the H-2 Freeway a half-mile south of the Ka Uka Boulevard exit and smashed into a pickup truck driven by Lance Miyashiro of Wahiawa. The pickup flipped and was rammed by a sport utility vehicle. Miyashiro died at the scene. Yong was extricated from his car in critical condition. The SUV driver suffered serious injuries. Yong faces up to 5 years in prison and a fine of $10,000 when he’s sentenced in August. Aloha, Russ.
