Hawaii visitors, spending drop in October
Hawaii News Now
HONOLULU (AP) – The Hawaii Tourism Authority says the number of visitors coming to the islands fell 1.6 percent in October compared to the same month last year.

Russell Roberts‘s insight:

According to Hawaii Tourism Authority CEO Mike McCartney, the number of visitors coming to Hawaii dropped 1.6 percent in October compared to the same month a year ago.  Visitors also spent 2.6 percent less during their stay in the islands.  McCartney says the slow decline in visitor numbers will continue into next year.  McCartney states that travelers are spending fewer days in the state because Hawaii vacations are more expensive than than trips to other tropical locations.  McCartney believes the losses can be balanced by more arrivals from Asia, including China and Japan.  Aloha, Russ.
