The headline of this somewhat overwrought article is a bit overstated. The anti-GMO measure (Bill 113) won’t become county law until the full council approves the measure and is signed by Hawaii County Mayor Billy Kenoi. The Hawaii County Council will meet on Wednesday, 16 October 2013 to discuss Bill 113. If the council approves the measure and the mayor signs the necessary paperwork, all GMOs would be banned on the island, except for previously approved GMO papaya. Aloha, Russ.
