Herin lies a cautionary tale.  Nuclear energy may be cheaper than other forms of generated power, but the technology needs constant monitoring to prevent mishaps such as the Fukushima disaster in March of 2011.  Aloha, Russ.

  1. A powerful earthquake can really mess with a reactor, cooling system and other containment features and facilities. Again, a nice idea, but constant vigilance is, as you mentioned, required to help ensure safety.

    1. Even under the best of circumstances nuclear power is a dangerous game. Cheap, efficient power, but at a high cost. If everything goes right, one still has the disposal issue of nucleatides and isotopes–stuff that stay hot for decades. Russ.
