Hawaii Island United Way general campaign underway
Hawaii 24/7 (press release)
Kick-off rallies in Hilo and Kona were conducted last week, celebrating the 46th Annual General Campaign of the Hawaii Island United Way.

Russell Roberts‘s insight:

The Hawaii Island United Way keeps most of the funds raised right on this island.  This is your chance to help many social service agencies with one contribution.  Aloha, Russ.

  1. One of the best things you can do with your charitable contributions – this and Make-a-Wish – both work to get the benefits to those needing them efficiently and with very little overhead. United Way keeps the funding local, too.

    1. You’re right. Years ago, I served on the governing board of the Hawaii Island United Way. At that time, ninety-eight percent of the funds raised stayed in Hawaii County. Our accounting requirements were very strict. Sometimes our board cut off a charity because of financial sloppiness. Make-a-Wish is an excellent charity and has an outstanding record of civic responsibility. Congress could learn a lesson or two from these people. Russ.
